How to post a 360 photo on Facebook
Facebook shows a photo as an interactive 360° panorama only when the file is a 2:1 equirectangular JPG that says it's a 360° photo in its metadata. Here's how to post one, and what to do when it comes out flat.
What the file needs
- JPG format.
- Exactly twice as wide as it is tall (2:1), like 4096 × 2048 or 3840 × 1920.
- 360° metadata (the GPano tags). Photos straight from a 360° camera have it; many edited, exported or AI-generated images don't.
On a computer
- Open Facebook and click "What's on your mind?" on your profile or a page.
- Click Photo/video and choose your 360° JPG.
- Wait for the upload: a 360° file shows a globe icon or "360" label in the preview and can be dragged around.
- Write your post and click Post.
On a phone
- In the Facebook app, tap "What's on your mind?" and then Photo/video.
- Choose the 360° photo from your gallery.
- Check that the preview can be moved around by dragging or tilting the phone, then tap Post.
If it shows up as a flat, stretched image
- The file is missing its 360° metadata. Add it with our free 360 Metadata Injector (it runs in your browser), then upload the new file.
- Make sure the image is exactly 2:1. Crop or resize it if it isn't.
- Avoid editing the file again after adding the tags: some editors remove metadata when they save.
- If it still comes out flat, try posting it on its own rather than with other photos.
Panoramas you download from AI360 Generator can include the 360° tags already: keep "Mark as a 360° photo" ticked when you download.
